Canada Post changes take effect January 15

Changes to Canada Post Corporation services and rates are coming into effect January 15, 2007.

Canada Post sent notification and details to all commercial customers and mail service providers in July, and are sending reminders this week in advance of the January 15 implementation.

As previously reported in the July 14, 2006, Bulletin, the changes include rate increases for Publications Mail and Unaddressed Admail, as well as a one-cent increase in basic domestic Lettermail to 52 cents. Changes are also being made to mail preparation requirements, including minimum fill requirements for presorted hard-sided containers, brick piling, and rural bundling. Canada Post is also working with customers and mail service providers to improve machine readability rates and reduce handling costs.
