Canada Post update: 24-hour strike in Montreal

JUNE 2, 2011 – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) began the latest in a series of rotating strikes at 11:30 Sunday evening and continuing for 24 hours. The next location is to be announced today.

Canada Post has advised Newspapers Canada that while rural post offices (non-CUPW) will be operational as per usual, strike activity can change the status of a facility at any time.

Post offices that are operational will continue to accept mailings, deliver mail and perform their usual daily tasks. This would change if a national strike is declared.

Publishers are strongly advised to contact their local postal outlets before making alternative delivery arrangements.

Newspapers Canada will continue to maintain contact with Ottawa and update members with information as it becomes available.
