Vancouver Sun scores with commemorative shopping bag

The Vancouver Sun found a creative new revenue stream last month by turning its royal wedding coverage into a limited-edition tote bag.

The handmade bags, which sold for $49.99, featured colour photos from the front page and selected pages from the April 30 edition.  The Sun promoted the bags with in-paper print ads and sold them via the paper’s online e-store.

Marketing manager Patricia Wu described the response as "overwhelmingly positive," noting that all 100 bags sold out within three days.
