Sun Media launches new community paper in Quebec

Sun Media, a subsidiary of Quebecor, has launched a new bi-weekly publication in the Bois-Francs Region of Quebec. Titled L’Echo de Victoriaville, the free paper will have a circulation of 43,000. Jean Crepeau, a local-area businessman who recently joined the Hebdos Regionaux Quebecor Media team, has been appointed as the publisher of L’Echo de Vicotriaville as well as L’Impact de Drummondville.

Since 2010, Quebecor has launched 12 community newspapers in Quebec. L’Echo de Victoriaville becomes the 76th publication in Hebdos Regionaux Quebecor Media’s network.

Sun Media also announced that it will cease publication of the Montreal Mirror, the city’s last remaining English-language alternative weekly newspaper. Launched in 1985, the final edition of the free paper was published on June 22, 2012.
