Global news organizations condemn persecution of Turkish journalists

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and the World Editors Forum have released a letter urging the Turkish government to release 41 journalists who are currently being imprisoned in the country on terrorism-related charges. In a letter to Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdo─ƒan, the international news organizations accuse the government of attempting to intimidate the press and breaching the right to freedom of expression.

WAN-IFRA and the World Editors Forum are calling for the imprisoned journalists to be released and for all of the charges against them to be dropped.
