Government of Alberta to review FOIP Act

Alberta’s Associate Minister of Accountability, Transparency and Transformation Don Scott has announced the opening of consultations to guide possible changes to the province’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

The consultation process is keeping with a May 2012 commitment that the government intended to review the Act. The consultation process comes on the heels of a 2010 review conducted by a standing committee of the Alberta legislature that took a year and resulted in 24 recommendations.

The consultation process is open until July 31. Interested parties are requested to provide their feedback through a prepared discussion guide.
