Are you ready to help ‘Break the Fake’?

Can you tell the difference between what is fact and what is fiction?

In today’s digital world, critical thinking is more important than ever. To celebrate this year’s Media Literacy Week, MediaSmarts presents Canadians with a variety of resources to help make sure you know the information you’re consuming is factual.

This month MediaSmarts launched a national social awareness campaign called Break the Fake featuring the house hippo, the widely adored “mascot” introduced in a PSA in 1999 to stimulate discussion about what is fact and what is fiction in the media we consume.  Break the Fake is all about encouraging people of all ages to check information they see online, especially before sharing it.

At BreaktheFake.ca, learn four easy ways to fact-check, watch videos, and download materials you can share with family members and friends and #BreaktheFake.
