The Department of Canadian Heritage has announced that the Canada Periodical Fund is now accepting applications for the Special Measures for Journalism (SMJ) component, designed to provide recovery funding to Canadian magazines and non-daily community newspapers.
The component provides funds for the 2021-2022 fiscal year to publishers that have a free circulation model or low levels of paid circulation.
The deadline to apply is November 29, 2021 December 6, 2021. **EXTENDED**
Applications for the 2021 SMJ will be accepted through the new Canadian Heritage Funding Portal (CHFP).
- Proof of your organization’s legal status (letters patent/incorporation documents, partnership agreements, constitution or bylaws or other recognized documentation).
- Direct Deposit Enrolment Form, stamped by a financial institution or accompanied by one supporting document (a void cheque, banking letter, or management letter).
- Sign-In Partners are companies and organizations (such as financial institutions) that have partnered with SecureKey Technologies to enable their customers to use their online credentials to access Government of Canada services.
- GCKey is a service that issues credentials (a username and password) for accessing government services online. GCKey is a good option if you don’t have a sign-in partner or prefer not to use one.
