Black Press expands in Washington

Black Press through its subsidiary Sound Publishing Inc. has finalized arrangements to purchase a group of 10 newspapers in King County Washington from Horvitz Newspapers.

The announcement was made by Black Press president David Black.

 

The new group consists of seven bi-monthly publications, two weekly community newspapers and the daily King County Journal.

The bi-monthly publications serve residents of Auburn, Bellevue, Bothell/Kenmore, Covington/Maple Valley, Kent, Redmond and Renton. Community newspapers are the Mercer Island Reporter and the Snoqualmie Valley Record.

 

Sound Publishing also publishes 17 community newspapers in the Puget Sound area as well as the weekly Little Nickel Classifieds and Nickel Classifieds papers in Western Washington and Oregon. With the addition of the Journal/Reporter and Nickel papers Sound publications will distribute more than 3/4 of a million copies each week.

 

Black Press publishes over 100 newspapers in Western Canada, Hawaii, Ohio and Washington State including the Honolulu Star Bulletin and the Akron (Ohio) Journal.
