CNA releases 2010 FOI Audit

The Canadian Newspaper Association releases its National Freedom of Information Audit for 2009-2010 next week.

On Monday, May 10, CNA members will receive an advance copy of the report and a general feature article for publication. The information will be embargoed until May 12 at 3 PM when the findings will be released at a news conference to all media.

This fifth annual freedom of information audit provides a unique opportunity to compare the performance of institutions across Canada. For the first time, the same information was requested across all three levels of government, and the results of that show, again, that some government departments are lagging when it comes to being genuinely open and accountable to Canadians.

What: News conference
Time: 3 PM
Date: Wednesday, May 12, 2010
Location: Peel Room, Sheraton Toronto Centre Hotel, 123 Queen Street West.

The news event takes place a day before the annual Canadian newspaper industry conference, Ink and Beyond, to be held May 13-14 at the Sheraton Hotel.
