Awards Showcase: 2020 CCNA Best News Story, Circulation (up to 9,999)

The Canadian Community Newspaper Awards honour outstanding work in editorial, photography, multimedia and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing across the country.

Congratulations to the 2020 CCNAwards winners for Best News Story (circulation up to 9,999).

1st Place: Manitoulin Expositor (Manitoulin Island, ON) – “PC Hovingh fatally shot while responding to property dispute near Gore Bay’s East Bluff” – Warren Schlote

2nd Place: The Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal (Ashcroft, BC) – “Dramatic chase after iconic jade boulder stolen in Cache Creek” – Barbara Roden

3rd Place: The Ashcroft-Cache Creek Journal (Ashcroft, BC) – “Lytton archaeological survey answers one question, uncovers more” – Barbara Roden

The CCNAwards recognize the outstanding work produced each week and celebrate the vibrancy of community newspapers across Canada. Following a hiatus due to COVID, entries were judged from both 2020 and 2021 in the fall of 2022. Award winners from both competitions were announced on November 14, 2022.
