Awards Showcase: CCNA 2020 Best News Story (circ 10,000+)

The Canadian Community Newspaper Awards honour outstanding work in editorial, photography, multimedia and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing across the country.

Congratulations to the 2020 CCNAwards winners for Best News Story (circulation 10,000+).

1st Place – Delta Optimist (Delta, BC) – “Bullying takes extreme toll” – Ian Jacques

2nd Place – Comox Valley Record (Courtenay/Comox Valley, BC) – “Snowbirds tragedy hits Valley hard” – Terry Farrell

3rd Place – The Beaver (Oakville, ON) – “‘Disgusted’: Oakville cemetery facing calls to remove what’s being called a Nazi monument” – David Lea

The CCNAwards  recognize the outstanding work produced each week and celebrate the vibrancy of community newspapers across Canada. Following a hiatus due to COVID, entries were judged from both 2020 and 2021 in the fall of 2022. Award winners from both competitions were announced on November 14, 2022.
