Canadians trust newspaper advertisements: study

Canadian research from the recent study, Community Newspapers Drive Results 2017 confirms that printed and digital newspapers are considered the most trusted media for advertising content.

Almost half of Canadian adults surveyed trust advertising in printed newspaper over other traditional ad formats, including television, radio, magazines and outdoor.  Ads on mobile devices and social media were the least trusted ad formats.

This echoes research among American news consumers, conducted earlier this year by Ipsos. That study found that while a majority of Americans consume news on Facebook, they don’t trust it. In fact, the study concluded, only 18 per cent of American respondents trusted news found on Facebook.
